Our Good Tree grade 4/5 learners ventured off to visit Scratch Patch rock and mineral world in Simons Town as well as to Seaforth beach.
The learners have been covering geomorphology in the classroom and learning about rocks and rivers. The purpose of this specific outing was to allow the learners to experience learning outside of the classroom.
They were tasked to build their own river at sea along with its different structures. Being at sea allowed them to witness concepts like erosion and deposition in real time which not only elevated their elevated their experience but gave them an opportunity to have fun in the process!
The visit to Scratch Patch & Mineral World gave the learners an opportunity to discover the earths beautiful minerals and gems that have formed overtime. The outing concluded with Thursday salah on the beach for the girls and a stop at Simons Town masjid for the boys, where they were informed about the history and significance of the masjid in the area by one of the Musalis. An overall wholesome experience, Alhamdulilah.
